Xplor

While visiting Riviera Maya, Mexico back in 2017 my family decided while we were at the hotel to do an excursion. Xplor came to mind since it is a very popular tourist attraction while visiting this country. This booking only took a little bit and was very simple to with the representatives at the hotel. The package we decided to go with was called Xplor and it was one I will never forget. It was a whole days worth of activities and my family did not miss out on one thing they offered. We did it all which includes two circuits of zip lines spanning a total of 2.4 miles, the amphibious vehicle ride that goes through the jungle and caves (pictures above to the left), paddling with hand paddles down the underground river, a stalactite river swim inside the caves (pictures above to the right), unlimited snacks and beverages such as fruits/cookies/smoothies/water, a buffet lunch, a locker for two, and free parking. I’m not sure about you, but I was wondering how in the world we were even going to do all that in one day but my family really showed me otherwise, and I’m glad they did. I loved every second of this excursion because there were so many different opportunities that we could experience. My favorite had to be the zip-line portion because I love it so much. It was breathtaking being so high above the trees and really getting to see the whole landscape. Now if you are afraid of heights I do not recommend this one for you since it does feature one of the tallest zip lines in Rivera Maya. But, not only did it feature regular zip lines, but it even had hammock type ones that landed you into the water at the end. My least favorite part of the excursion was the river swim since the whole time my mom, sister, and I were nervous about the fish. We all do not like fish and so we were stiff the whole time not wanting to touch anything. Thank goodness for my dad though because like pictured above he swam us all through the cave while the three of us floated on his back with our feet up. Seeing all of these activities I bet you are wondering what the price of something like this is and I was curious about the same thing when I started writing this blog, but to my surprise I was shocked by how relatively cheap it was. An adult ticket costs $129 dollars while a child’s ticket, ages 5-11, get in for $64 dollars. The park is also open all day from 9 am to 5 pm and they do offer transportation to and from your hotel with the ticket for an extra $27 dollars. My family and I decided to also do the photo pass package since we knew a lot of pictures were going to be taken and that was an extra $58 dollars. But this photo pass was well worth it because we got some outstanding photos to remember our trip by that came out completely clear. After seeing and doing everything that goes along with this excursion I was shocked that the tickets were only that much and therefore I would recommend this excursion to absolutely anyone going there. It was such an unforgettable experience that I would hands down do again. We were never bored and as soon as we finished one thing we were making our way over to the next. If anyone was to do this excursion there are some recommendations and important information to follow and that is to bring proof of your purchase printed out with you, wear a swimsuit, water shoes, and insect repellant, also bring an extra set of clothes to change into and a towel. Something very important that you must follow is you can only use sunblock and sunscreen that contains titanium oxide and zinc oxide while in the park. This is because the water is so pure and clean that normal sunscreen could damage it so by putting this rule in place is helping to preserve it. Overall, I suggest giving this tour a look if you are planning on booking a trip here because you will not regret it. I do however suggest, that if you have young kids then this may not be the best place to visit. Since it is a lot of walking around and features big excursions kids should be around the age of 11 or 12 in order to really experience it all and get their money’s worth.
